How much to remove an existing a kitchen island and install new island?

We get a ton of requests from clients who want to change out their kitchen island. Your kitchen island is a very useful workspace and likely receives a lot of use. Oftentimes the islands we remove and tearout are granite from the early 00’s. These colors consist of Uba Tuba, Kashmir White, St. Cecilia, Giallo Napoleon, and many more colors. The dark greens, beige, brown granites were very popular in the 00’s.

Lucky for you, replacing your kitchen island is very easy and affordable. We remove a lot of granite and replace those islands with bright white quartz. These quartz colors mostly have a white background with grey veining. These veins can be long and dramatic or they can be short and carrara marble in style.

The replacement process is very easy. All you need to do is call, text, or email us at Slabworks. Our number is 919-355-8484. You will then come to our showroom and pick out a color you like. We have several options. Secret insider tip here: You can use remnants. These are wonderful partial slabs that can be used for small projects like replacing a kitchen island. Remnants are also incredible because they are much more affordable compared to a full slab.

After you pick out your color and material, we will schedule a template. Most islands are rectangles so the template process usually does not take a long time. We will check the cabinets for levelness and sturdiness. If you have a sink or cooktop in your island we will take those notes and measurements at time of template too. Once template has been taken we bring the template back to our shop and fabricate your new island,. This can take 1-5 days depending on the current workload of our business.

Install day is usually a breeze for island replacements. We ask that you clear a path from the driveway to the kitchen so we can carry your new kitchen island. Before we bring in the new island we will remove the old island and prepare the cabinets for installation. Often we have to pry and jack the old island off. This can be a little messy, but not too bad. Don’t worry we always leave a clean scene. Once that is done we bring in your new kitchen island. We place it down secure it to the cabinets. At this time we will make cooktop cutouts or attach sinks. We can be in and out on install day for an island in usually 2 hours our less.

Replacing your kitchen island is an incredible way to spruce up your kitchen. It is also a great AFFORDABLE way to upgrade your kitchen to quartz. We have done thousands of kitchen island replacements. It is a wonderful value and bang for your buck. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are considering replacing your kitchen island.
